The Pendle Triathlon.

Our own race, put on by the club every year since 2010 and marshalled almost entirely by our own members. A pool swim, lapped routes through the Lancashire countryside, and the sort of atmosphere that gets first-timers over the line.

The races

There are five ways to take part, so there is something whether this is your first ever event or you are chasing a time. All of them start from the same transition at West Craven Sports Centre.

Super sprint

The shortest way in. Pool swim, bike, run — designed for a first triathlon.

Sprint

The classic distance and the busiest wave of the day.

Duathlon

Run, bike, run. No swim, if the water is not your thing.

Aquabike

Swim and bike only — new for 2026, and kind to your knees.

Aquathlon

Swim and run — also new for 2026, and no bike to transport.

Not sure?

Ask us. We would far rather you entered the right one than the impressive one.

What to expect

  • A 25 metre pool swim. Indoors, lane-seeded, so no wetsuit and no open water nerves.
  • Fully signposted, lapped bike and run routes through semi-rural Lancashire, marshalled throughout.
  • Helmets are compulsory on the bike, and your bike will be checked in transition.
  • Waves start from 09:00. Arrive 15 to 30 minutes before your wave to rack, walk transition and ask anything you need to.
  • Free parking and proper facilities at the sports centre.

Volunteering

A race this size needs upwards of fifty marshals, timekeepers, lap counters and people handing out water. If you cannot race — or you would just rather shout at people than run past them — we would love to have you. Club members who marshal are the reason this event still exists after fifteen years.
