A friendly tri club in the shadow of Pendle Hill.

We are an adults-only club in Colne for every kind of triathlete — the person eyeing up their first sprint, and the one back from an Ironman. Coached swimming, group rides where nobody gets dropped, and open water at Lake Burwain all summer.

What you get

Three sports, one very unpretentious club.

Nobody here is going to make you feel slow. Most of our members joined without owning a wetsuit or a road bike, and plenty still race in trainers they have had for years.

Coached swimming

A coached pool session every Tuesday evening at Pendle Leisure Centre — drills, technique and a set that actually suits your lane. Then open water at Lake Burwain once the weather turns.

Rides that wait for you

Midweek and weekend rides from Colne out into the Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire lanes. 15–20 miles at a steady pace, a café stop, and a firm rule that the group regroups at the top of every climb.

Running and bricks

Coached running through our link with Trawden Athletic Club, brick sessions at the Steven Burke Sports Hub, and a Saturday parkrun contingent who are mostly there for the coffee afterwards.

Training

A typical week

Sessions shift with the seasons — open water and evening rides through the summer, strength and conditioning through the dark months. The full timetable, with venues and what to bring, is on the training page.

Tuesday Coached pool swim Pendle Leisure Centre, Colne 20:00–21:00
Wednesday Club bike ride Summer From the Morris Dancers, Colne · 15–20 miles, steady 18:15
Thursday Open water swimming Summer Lake Burwain, Foulridge · two sessions, booking required 18:00 & 19:00

Open water

Thursday nights at Lake Burwain.

From late spring to early autumn we run fully marshalled open-water swimming at Lake Burwain sailing club in Foulridge — safety kayaks, changing rooms, hot showers, and pie and peas in the clubhouse afterwards. Open to visiting swimmers as well as members.

  • Two sessions each Thursday evening
  • Book online — places are limited and allocated weekly
  • Volunteer at a session and your swim is free
  • Beginner-friendly, with an open-water coach on hand

Our race

The Pendle Triathlon, Sunday 7 June 2026.

The club has put on its own triathlon every year for over a decade, and it has grown into one of the friendliest races in the north west — a 25 metre pool swim, signposted lapped bike and run routes through the Lancashire countryside, free parking and a lot of cheering. For 2026 there is an aquabike and an aquathlon as well.
